Hi, I'm Nick.

I’ve been working professionally on the internet building things for over 15 years. I’ve spent most of that time building Rails applications with a strong focus on Developer UX and what they now call DevOps.

The DevOps side of things started back in the day with getting annoyed at really long and brittle bash scripts to provision servers. I reached for Chef and utilized that for a while until Ansible came around which felt much lighter and simpler to get up and running with.

Fast forward to the container era and the Kubernetes approach has always seemed like overkill for small to medium-sized companies. Spinning up a cluster to run single-digit to tens of servers is just overkill. Turns out it is, and there’s an easier way by getting back down to the metal with some simple Docker containers.

Kamal is the tool for that and I’d love to show you the way. Pair it with Terraform to create your base infrastructure and you’re set.
